    Making a sliding shelf

Haha :) I'm leaning towards the first option (coffee-table style brackets) as I think it will be easier to make, and more subtle/out of the way when not in use - do you think this will be sufficient to provide enough support for the piano when at the higher level and being played? If so...

    Painting aluminium

Thanks for that, I'll give it a go :) I was thinking of also using the Super Primer (white) over the current paint, to make sure it goes on well; maybe 2 thin coats of the primer, followed by 3 thin coats of the orange - would that be okay?

    Making a sliding shelf

Hi, I've never used one; I suppose the concept is useful for portability, but they'd be terrible to play on as the keys are so thin! :)

    Painting aluminium

Hi guys, I'm looking to paint a piece of aluminium; it's currently finished in grey with some labelling on it (you can feel the labelling very slightly if you run your hand over it), it's a digital piano. I'm wanting to paint it orange (flat/matt, no gloss at all) like the attached pic, to...

    Making a sliding shelf

Hi guys, Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. I think I'm going to do something along the lines of either: -The lift-up coffee table mechanism (thanks freddy)/the concept posted by woody, e.g. 2 brackets on both edges that then lift up to change the height -The keyboard tray...

Sadly that bedside table is too high @ 74cm, as it would need to be max. 52cm high for the piano to be stored on, and then raised to approx. 67cm.

[/url] That's actually not a bad idea at all, thanks, definitely something to consider. Though I'd still like to hear from anyone with experience of special brackets etc. for the slide-out shelf option, as it would be more subtle and built in?

    Making a sliding shelf

Bed side table would be in the middle so no leg room, and not very stable (piano is 130cm wide). The only options really are either a height-adjustable table on castors, that I can pull out; or a slide-out shelf that comes out and over to rest on the top of the desk. If I can find some...

    Making a sliding shelf

That wouldn't work unfortunately as it would be far too low for playing, and for knee-clearance etc.!

    Making a sliding shelf

Thanks for the reply! It's 15cm high, 31cm deep, and 130cm wide (shelf itself will be approx 140cm wide).

    Making a sliding shelf

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if this is in the correct section, apologies if it isn't. I have a piano keyboard (10kg) that I'd like to somehow pull out from under my computer desk, for music creation etc. Unfortunately it would be too low to play at the height it would be stored under the...
