Loft conversion and certified double-leaf firedoors?

Update; I found a global assessment for the doors in a single acting double door set. It failed before 30 minutes on the latch but there is a note stating if the forend etc had intumescent strips it would likely hold for 30. I've sent this on with a pointer to the AD and the requirement for FD20...

Loft conversion and certified double-leaf firedoors?

Thanks, I have no issue changing the doors but removing the doorway or restricting it to a single really seems restrictive... I just can't believe this issue is so rare that there isn't a readily replicable solution.

Loft conversion and certified double-leaf firedoors?

Thanks Wessex; you're right, there are commercial makers but not ones I'm happy with, nor are they readily available in the width - 1180mm. I'll have a read through the AD and have a discussion with BC people. Hopefully we'll arrive at a position.

Loft conversion and certified double-leaf firedoors?

Thanks, that is helpful guidance. I did note that I've got a trainee building control chap, seems helpful but I wonder if I'm paying for his education...

Loft conversion and certified double-leaf firedoors?

Hi, We will be starting work on a loft extension in the NY. A condition is to fit FD30 rate doors for all habitables coming off the stairwell. This is all sensible and fine. The trouble is I have a non-standard width double door coming off the dining room into the hall. I have found some...

Vitcas tile adhesive primer, inset fireplace surround

Hi, I plan on using the Vitcas tile adhesive to fix slate tiles to a keyed breeze/plaster wall. This is to surround an inset wood burner. The product says to prime with Vitcas PVA - I already have some no-nonsense PVA which I'd use undiluted. Is this ok to use or is there likely to be...

    R63 (E27) LED, which dimmer?

Thanks for the replies, I'll do what you say and select bulb then the dimmer. I had noticed R63 were hard to get so may consider other options that fit the holes. I have 4 of these in the dining room and a further 6 in the lounge working off a double dimmer (3 each) which I'll be doing in a...

    R63 (E27) LED, which dimmer?

Hi, I am in the process of redecorating my dining room which has 4 flush r63 spots attached to a dimmer. I don't want to mess with the ceiling so I intend replacing the r63 housings and using r63 dimmable LED's. Question is what dimmer should I be using for this? This is what I was planning...

Building regulation compliance certificate - copies?

The cert has NICE EIC on it. He's still trading and certified - I've dropped him a mail so will see what he says. Forgive the ignorance but is this something significant i.e. what happens if I can't produce this cert? I was hoping to exchange in the next week, will this hold everything up?

Building regulation compliance certificate - copies?

Hi, I had some work done in 2010 - new consumer unit and an oven circuit. The chap issued me a Domestic Electrical Installation Cert under BS7671. I'm now in the process of selling the flat and have provided the buyers solicitor of said certificate - they've now asked me for a buildings...

    Mixer threads not long enough!

not enough to get a confident seal I don't think. What do you mean by 'cut down' the thread extensions?

    Mixer threads not long enough!

Hi, I've got a pickle with my bath/tap combo in that there isn't enough thread on the taps to get them fitted properly. The bath is an old victorian roll top cast iron job and the bit where the taps go is about 3/4" thick. The mixer is a Beaumont luxury crank leg mixer like this one...
