    hi, this is a pic of a lever / pad http://www.locksonline.co.uk/products/ix/upvc.php the 1st pic with the round (pad) this will deadlock the door upon closing (like a yale lock) but as you say it wont engage the hooks/bolts on the locking strip. hope that helps

    the above post was for fixed windows, if you have a opening window you have to pack the sides i think on the lock/handle side, this stops the opening window dropping on the lock/handle side resulting in badly opening and closing of the window ray :wink:

    hi, they are to stop the unit from sitting on the actual frame, because if the unit is allowed to sit on the inside of the frame the unit will be surrounded by water which gets in via gaskets ect and if this happens the unit is more likely to fail eg mist up. ray :wink:
