Need help with a upvc door lock

A couple of weeks ago I went to open one of the French doors, but when I pressed down on the handle it suddenly had no resistance, although the door opened OK. I can still open and close the door, and even lock it without any problem but the handle doesn't spring back to it's normal position.

Firstly, does anyone have any ideas what could have happened, and secondly is it easy to fix without having to call in a pro?

sounds like the spring is knackered in the handle, refitting new ones shoul cre the problem.

Also possible the spindle has shattered. Take the handles off and look at the hole the long metal rod goes through. If it isn't square, or is cracked, then get someone out to replace the mechanism before it gets to the stage it won't lock/unlock.
