    Thanks for all your replies, unfortunately the Pope cannot come out until next week. What are the main causes of a mcb tripping on a light circuit? Just realised why I got the Pope jokes? My locations was set as the Vatican City, I've now changed it to UK.

    I have recently bought a house with a raised concrete yard which is above the DPC, if it has one, and also no air bricks to the rear. Could I fit an air brick above the ground level outside and just knock a brick out below the floor level inside. It has cavity walls.

    slate tiles on walls

    I'm building a fireplace/hearth using 30cm slate tiles. I have cemented them to the base no problem but now I want to put them on the walls on the inside of the chimney breast. Can I fix them to the wall using mortar of should I be using an adhesive?
