Yet another boiler problem - constantly igniting even though it's lit

Thanks! Yes, it seems to be constantly cycling, trying to light. You hear the clunk of the starter and a puff of flame in the viewing hole. I'm not sure there's much of a board in there. It only has a dial to control water temp and no other buttons/display. I'll see if I can find an online manual.

Yet another boiler problem - constantly igniting even though it's lit

Hi All, Sorry another boiler related question. I have a 25+ year old Potterton Prima F something (the label rubbed off long ago). It's generally been reliable but has recently started to play up. It's constantly trying to ignite even though the boiler is lit and functioning otherwise normally...

    Electrical matters in UK Courts

Sorry just to dip in, but there are several specialist courts that fall under the Queen's Bench Division of the High Court, including the Technology and Construction Court...

    Switch next to sink

Sorry, me neither. It's a phrase you see bandied around. I guess I mean someone that the courts would agree would be deemed competent by a reasonable person. Nothing's perfect and you'd expect professional's opinions to differ in many respects regarding the regulations as they do in other...

    Switch next to sink

Just my opinion (which is worthless) but if you employed a legally competent person to undertake a EICR and you became aware (eg by visiting a relevant forum) that the results were questionable than it would be reasonable to dispute it. The sensible course of action would be to get a second...

    Switch next to sink

(Sorry for the thread drift) It absolutely is true that they have descretion deviate from the literal interpretation. Parliamentary intention is the basis for one of the rules of interpretation. (see Adler v George [1964] 2 QB 7) It is the job of barristers to exploit interpretation and the...

    Switch next to sink

Not strictly true. Judges have rules of interpretation which can be employed to prevent a perverse outcome. It would be disproportionally expensive to test though. The law generally favours reasonable behaviour. There’s plenty of evidence in this thread that the OP is acting reasonably. If it...

    Xpelair C4TS Ceiling Mounting

Hi all, I know this isn't really an Electrics issue but all the Xpelair posts seem to be in this sub-forum. I have recently purchased an Xpelair C4TS extractor to replace the dead one in my bathroom. Does anyone know if you're supposed to remove the back draught shutter when ceiling mounting...

    Gas Fire - bit missing?

Many thanks for all the replies! So is the consensus that the hole is normal and there isn't something missing?

    Gas Fire - bit missing?

Yes, it does open up. I will grab a picture when I next visit. I've just had a look through the bundle of paperwork that the seller left for us and it would appear, according to the manuals, I have a Glowworm Inset BBU 50 back boiler with a Glowworm Chatsworth BBU fire. According to the manuals...

    Gas Fire - bit missing?

It's got a single sliding control on the top right - slide all the way down to start and back up 3/4 of the way for max power. Thanks.

    Gas Fire - bit missing?

Thanks for the speedy reply muggles. It didn't strike me as anything immediately dangerous but that's why I'm asking. It looks like it just has a missing plate. Nothing appears to be obviously mutilated? Unfortunately this new property is a some way away and that's probably the only thing I...

    Gas Fire - bit missing?

Hi All, I've recently purchased a property which has a back boiler doing the heating and water. It has a gas fire in front which seems to have a bit missing - perhaps a flue inspection cover? I'm not sure if this is normal - I certainly haven't see one like this before and it seems a bit silly...

    23 days and maybe counting?

John, although I hardly post, I am an avid reader of this forum. I am very slowly renovating my house and am doing the bulk of the work myself. Like many on here, I have a background in electronic design and am relatively happy working through the on-site guide. I read most topics in...
