Please advise, i've learnt the hard way.

Yes the units are on top of the laminate hence why im considering cutting the laminate to the cabinet legs, taking up the floor, levelling and then relaying.

Please advise, i've learnt the hard way.

Thanks for the link. It is a decent brand ie. Quickstep and suitable for kitchens, although I can understand that the water could enter the sides of the boards when I make the cut. I guess folding over the dpm below to cover the edges would be a help to give it some protection. I am tempted...

Please advise, i've learnt the hard way.

Hi all I'm looking for a spot of advice. A few months ago we had our garage converted into a new kitchen and at the time I thought it would be best to lay a good quality laminate floor to the whole kitchen even under the units. I was really stuck for time and decided to lay the flooring ontop...

Copper Pipe in plastic waste pipe

Hi all I'm about to cover my redirected copper mains pipe with mortar (burried in floor screed). I know there are some issues with concrete corroding copper pipes so I want to protect it. I don't have any denso tape and don't really have any future need for any so would rather not buy any...

What to use to fill channels in concrete screed

I need to ask a really dumb question.. Do you need to add any water to the sand/cement mix to fill the chased channel in the concrete screed? And do I need to add pva to the chased channel to aid bonding??

Do I need to insulate/protect the pipes?

Hi all I have just had my stopcock relocated which involved chasing a channel in the floor screed from the mains entry location to the corner of the room. Before I cover the pipes with sand/cement do I need to protect the pipes with Denso tape or any other method? The plumber said no but...

What to use to fill channels in concrete screed

Thanks The pipe is covered in a lagging protecting it from frost. The laminate flooring will not be going down for another 3/4 weeks anyway so that shouldn't be a problem and we'll be used fibreboard underlay aswell.

Heating only works when hot water is on.

Ok so to add to my previous messages. I had a plumber round today who is moving my stopcock to a different location. Whilst he was there I asked him why my heating only works whilst my hot water is on. He said it could be a valve problem or incorrect wiring of the programmer. So whilst he...

Heating only works when hot water is on.

Thanks. I think it's been like that since we moved in and to be honest we've done nothing about the fault as yet. It's only bothered us when we want one on but not the other. But rising bills have now made me think differently and I want to save as much as possible and this is the first step...

Heating only works when hot water is on.

Hi all My apologies I know very little about plumbing. :? I have a central heating programmer that allows you to choice 2 on/off settings for both the hot water and central heating to come on. The 1 clock controls both so you can't have 1 service on for a shorter time period than the...

Do I need a DPM beneath my laminate floor?

Hi all A very quick question. I've just had my garage converted to a kitchen and the floor was raised up with 75mm of celotex insulation and a concrete screed above. Obviously between these new layers and the old floor there is a bituminous DPM. Therefore do I need a another DPM beneath...
