Drilled hole TOO BIG for screw/rawlplug

Simple idea but could you not drill a hole smaller than you need to begin with and hammer or fit the rawlplug in so it fits snug as opposed to in a hole that gets too big?

I had a Ravenheat Combi a wee while back with a similar problem. Was supposedly OK but it was the heat sensors and eventually it died as unknown to me was a rather large build up of scale....bolier replaced after 3 years :( :(

    Help with boiler choice.

The boiler has been serviced since being put in. Its been a bind since day one. The boiler was installed by my father in law, a retired plumber in the trade since he was teenage. Just didnt have the CORGI certification. Fair enough, I wouldnt pay thousands of pounds for nothing either...

    Help with boiler choice.

That Ecotec 831 looks like a nice boiler but its almost £1000. With fitting on top this is going to be expensive..isn't it. I always like to do things myself but this is a job for the pros really. I need the pieces of paper, especially if we should move which could well be on the cards in a year...

    Help with boiler choice.

I've learnt a fair bit coming on here and have to some degree of success mended our piece of s**t known as a Ravenheat LS 80 combi boiler. I have to say you do get what you pay for as after only three years its about to die. Its leaking water badly from the blow out pipe and it seems it could...

Removing ceramic floor tiles to lay down some new ones.

A few years ago we decorated our kitchen and got a pro in to lay some ceramic quarry tiles down. He used a Unibond tile cement for wood floors. He layed the tiles on top of well stuck down vinyl tiles and scored them so they would adhere better. However I'm redecorating the kitchen again and...

I have a Ravenheat LS 80 and I've just changed the divertor valve. My knuckles are still sore and it was a two minute job that took hours...get some other poor sod to do it for you

Painting over pre painted fence panels.

For the last couple of years I've painted my fences with a sprayer using Cuprinol, every year I have to do them again as the rain eventually washes it off. I have always painted them forest green but want to change the coluor of them to say a dark brown. Am I able to spray over the green with...

Pressure loss not normal...need help with mystery!

Mr. Lil, you need to release the water pressure, and check the air pressure in the expansion vessel. (assuming you haven't done this already). Thankyou...I havent done this as unfortunately I wouldnt know where to start or how to do this

Pressure loss not normal...need help with mystery!

Blimey..whats going on here!!! I changed the whole PRV as it is a push fit type. It is acting exactly the same as the one I changed so seems a bit coincidental but the fact both may be faulty did cross my mind. The gauge I go by is the one on the boiler of which the red needle is just after...

Great....any ideas where it is...I know they have a car type valve on them. Is it at the back of the boiler or separate or are all boilers different??
