When starting a completely new bathroom installation, does it make more sense to lay floor tiles first and fix the toilet on top, or secure the toilet to the plywood floor and tile around it?
Thanks!
But the survey didn't suggest replacing the damp proof course, rather lowering the height of the external ground level so that it didn't breach the DPC. I had planned to do this next spring.
There is no way we will take up the tiles at this stage. Do you think lowering the outside ground...
Thanks for your reply. To answer your questions:
The floor was very wet underneath the old lino before the tiles were fitted, but the old dishwasher had a bad leak, so my assumption had been that this was the cause.
The kitchen has been fitted about three weeks, we have only just noticed...
Wonder if anyone can help with a question:
We recently had a new kitchen installed, including a newly laid tile floor. The kitchen is at the back of the house, at a lower level than the other rooms, and has a cement floor beneath the tiles.
Just recently damp seems to be rising through...
Thanks for your help. The stop tap in street is definitely fully open - will check for ****e in tap under floorboards!
So a 22m supply pipe reducing to 15mm wouldn't in itself reduce the pressure to the house? (Sorry if this is a dumb question...)
Cheers
We have just replaced our old combi-boiler with a new condensing model, and the plumber noted that we don't have great water pressure (but was just as bad before we replaced the boiler). For example, the electric shower in our 2nd bathroom provides only a scalding dribble if at the same time...
Hi,
The hot and cold pipes coming out of our combi boiler stick out of the dining room wall a long way before going through the ceiling to feed bathroom upstairs.
Is there any reason why I can't turn the water off at the stopcock, cut these pipes and bury them further into the plaster...

Does anyone have experience of this boiler? Is it any good? Have what seems a reasonable quote to have this fitted this week.
I see that www.boilers.org.uk rates it as a "B" rather than an "A" energy efficiency rating - would this make a lot of difference?
Thanks,
Steve.
Does anyone know if glass bath screens are available for a shower mounted centrally over a double-ended bath?
In my head I am imagining a concertina-style screen that folds flat against the back wall (either side of the taps) when not in use, then expands out to form a diamond shape, closing...
Fitted new switch today - all working fine now! Previous switch was wired OK, but I think some of the cable shielding was damaged going into the box- guess this was the problem.
Thanks again for everyone's help.

Yeah - fantastic stuff. Anyone would think that electricity was dangerous or something (ahem)
