Did consider just cleaning it but worried that if I break it without a spare etc.

Hi, thanks for your reply. No no work done it just stopped providing hot water yesterday when I was running a bath. As its not working atm I cannot carry out those checks although its not been tampered with since 2001 so assume! its right.
