    Flow rates

Hi I have a Firebird external oil combi. What I want to do is limit the flow of the DHW because when we run a bath the water comes out too fast and starts to cool down. Obviously I could turn the tap off a bit to limit the flow, but you end up constantly adjusting the tap to get a...

Draining CH system with combi left on for DHW?

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but can you not close off the C/H flow and return valves inside the boiler and then drain the the C/H system leaving the boiler and heat exchangers full of water (and still able to use DHW)?

No h/w after system drain down

Do you mean you have hot water in your tank? Is there cold water coming out the hot taps or no water at all? Or are you talking about just your central heating?

    central heating problem with air

I have fixed my earlier problem of air coming up the central heating when DHW first coming on by adding an auto air vent to a high spot on my flow pipe. But now a new problem: When the heating is on (firebird external combi pac 20kw version) and running hot I have air coming up into the...

Air in a sealed system - how to remove it?

Hi I've recently had central heating installed in my house. I have an external combi and the heating feed comes into the the house and up to the 1st floor. I can run my central heating for about 10mins when cold with no noise, but once it warms up I get a series of bubbles - it sounds quite...

    Combi boiler pumps

Thanks Tony. I'm still not quite sure what this DHW is actually pumping :? It doesn't seem to make any difference to my DHW when I turn the pump down from 3 to 1. It still flows out fast and it's still very hot. I'm assuming it's OK, all my rads are too hot to touch when the systems on...

    Combi boiler pumps

Hi My combi has two pumps in. In the manual, it says one is DHW and one is for heating. They are both Grundfos 20/60 with adjustable speed settings of 1-3. By default they were both set to 3. I changed the central heating one down to 1 as it sounded like a jet engine inside the house...

New combi central heating - noises!

I've made some progress on this, but it's not fixed yet. Here's the situation now: When it first comes on to fill/heat the heat exchanger in the morning (it's switched off overnight) it sounds like its sucking water out of my heating system and spitting it back in again. I don't seem to have...

    Air circulating in rads

This sounds almost exactly like the problem I have with my new boiler! :) Unfortunately no solutions offered at the moment, but I get 'air bubbles' when the DHW is first switched on after a night: //www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=156062 I have since drained my system and...

New combi central heating - noises!

Hi all I've just had a new external Firebird c20 installed for our heating and hot water. This is the first time we've ever had central heating although the pipes were all put in the house 20 years ago when built (it was meant to have a log burner to do the heating but it was never...
