Thanks so much for your help daz. You wouldn't believe how much I've been thinking about this but now I've got a plan I already feel better :)

    Smoothing/levelling over a 1960's bitumen sub floor.

Thanks daz. After the liquid dpm would you use the smoothing compound again? I've seen mentioned an Arditex NA sandwich, when I've been researching but it's all new to me.

    Smoothing/levelling over a 1960's bitumen sub floor.

I came across a post about mastic asphalt last night and I think you're right. Unfortunately there are parts of the floor that are 5-10mm out. I was surprised when I checked it as to the naked eye it does look quite flat but there are quite a few undulations throughout it.

    Smoothing/levelling over a 1960's bitumen sub floor.

Unfortunately not. It is definitely a bitumen screen. My mum moved into the house when it was first built and this is how the floor was when they moved it. They had to put their own flooring down.

    Smoothing/levelling over a 1960's bitumen sub floor.

I'm not sure. The house was built in the 60's. There are a couple of chunks missing around the perimeter from where the skirting was and it seems as though there's a plastic sheet of some kind underneath it.

    Smoothing/levelling over a 1960's bitumen sub floor.

Hi all. I've seen many posts about sub floor prep over bitumen residue used to stick down tiles etc, but I've not managed to find many that relate to my situation of having a ~20mm thick bitumen screed sub floor. What would be my best bet to smooth/level the sub floor out before laying lvt or...

Enlarging existing loft hatch to install new hatch and ladder. Is my thinking right?

Hi all. Will what I'm thinking of doing be OK? I need to open upy existing loft hatch to fit a new hatch and ladder before I board my loft out. My pre-existing hatch is roughly 600x600mm and sits inside a frame where 2 joists (blue on the edited photo) have been cut and sistered (green)...

Washing machine plumbing into floor waste.

Thanks for your quick reply Terry. Is this standpipe and trap suitable: https://www.screwfix.com/p/mcalpine-standpipe-appliance-trap-white-40mm/94360?ref=SFAppShare Not to sound daft but how would I get from that pipework into the reducer. My worry was that I'd create and s-trap style...

Washing machine plumbing into floor waste.

Hi all. I'm hoping someone can advise me on how to plumb a washing machine into this floor waste that's fitted with a 40mm reducer. I've only ever plumbed into a sink p-trap before and I'm struggling to figure out how to plumb it into this floor waste connection. Thanks in advance for any help.

    Repointing below DPC and drainage.

Hi all. I noticed a couple of small damp patches in my downstairs toilet and after checking the outside wall the mortar had gone in the some of the perps below the DPC. It didn't help that the paving slabs seemed to be sloping slightly towards the wall. Anyway, I removed the paving slabs and...
