No hot water - 2-port valve opening but boiler not called

I can report it is indeed a Honeywell valve and also it is the microswitch that has failed. There is a potential difference of 240 V across this switch regardless of position of valve. The motor works ok. Replacement actuator head it is. thanks for the help

No hot water - 2-port valve opening but boiler not called

Nice one! Thinking one step ahead - can the actuator be replaced without draining down the system? It's a pressurised system so even if I isolated before the 2-port valve I can see that getting complicated/wet.

No hot water - 2-port valve opening but boiler not called

OK guys, that's great info and I will investigate tonight. So does the 2-port valve have 4 wires then? A live and neutral on the valve itself commanded from the programmer plus 2 wires on the micro-switch? Not having explored one internally before I thought the programmer would send the...

No hot water - 2-port valve opening but boiler not called

Brethren, Now that the weather is warmer and the central heating is no longer activating the boiler I have lost my hot water. The thermostat on the hot water cylinder clicks if I turn it right down so I assume that is working, the timer on the programmer is active for hot water, in fact...

Choice of bath screen/sealing screen to bath

Had an interesting discussion with the fitter this morning and established what his concerns over this problem actually are. Where the two glass panels meet and hinge the bottom of this hinge is simply fixed to the bath with a small screw. The screw purchases into the wood baton running...

Choice of bath screen/sealing screen to bath

Like that but without the bracket at the top going into the wall. Sorry I can't find the original e-bay picture (that's where I bought it from)[/img]

Choice of bath screen/sealing screen to bath

Bathroom project coming along nicely, I've managed the project but have got a bathroom fitter in to do the actual work. The bath is fitted and surrounding area is tiled. There is a wall running along the long side of the bath and a 730 mm wall against the end so the bath has tiled walls on two...

    Essex flange installation

Legion, That all makes complete sense. Yes, sadly cropped at the top of the photo I attached but you are right. There is currently a horizontal pipe with the vent off to the loft and the outlet down towards the hot water outlets. I just need to re-visit the flange type pages to suss out...

    Essex flange installation

Legion, Gasmick, Cheers the replies. 25mm lower position noted, I have a crib sheet where I'd got a load of tips like that already written down but defo won't forget now. I was considering a top take off but I have read that the shower pump needs a dedicated hot feed and what maybe I...

    Essex flange installation

Hello, I am DIY'ing my bathroom and have decided to install a shower pump. I have read plenty of guides on here and have a very good idea of what I need to do. But a couple of questions remain: When fitting my Essex flange the advise is to position the pipe entering the hot water...
