Thank you Gazman. Oh but that exercise depressed me. The water went down the hole all right but NO sign of it draining onto the sill and away. Its draining down into the fabric of this timber framed house.

Please see the pictures This is a new build house and these are expensive double glazed units. The lower recess in 14 frames have holes badly chiselled into them like these pictures. Surely they cannot be drainage holes ? This is a timber framed house....so where exactly is the water...
