    Problem fixing basin to wall...

Hello all, I have completely refurbished the bathroom, ripped out all the old pipes, bath, toilet, basin and tiles etc etc. All has been fitted with minimum issues apart from the basin: Basin has two nuts/bolts to fix to the wall. Holes have been drilled and plugs fit snugly. If I use a...

    No Earthing anywhere in flat....

Just checked all the backboxes - it appears none of them have a connection for an earth wire. Does that mean I will have to get all the boxes replaced? :(

    No Earthing anywhere in flat....

Thank you for your reponses. I guess all the MI cables going into the fuse box will need earthing as well?

    No Earthing anywhere in flat....

Hi, I have just bought my first property in which I am looking to change a few sockets, light switches, and ceiling lights before it is rented out. None of the above mentioned have been earthed - it seems that live wires from the fuse box are encased in copper and not earthed. I obviously...

    Plasterboard question.....

Hi, I still haven't got round to starting this. There is no shower in the bath. Can I fix battens straight onto the brickwork and then attach the aqua-panel and get a decent tile job done on top? Ta.

    Plasterboard question.....

Hi, Thanks for your replies. The area is a clean straight 6ft * 3ft (and an adjacent 2ft * 3ft) so I think straight joins and dab on board is possible. I have never done dotndab (seems straight forward though) - would it be advisable to split the large area into two pieces and then...

    Plasterboard question.....

Hi, We recently moved into a new place and decided that a new bathroom suite is needed. The tiles and grouting (floor to ceiling) are in pristine condition so we opted to keep these. I ripped out the toilet followed by the sink. I carefully removed two rows of tiles (chisel job) from...

Installing cooker hood and new cooker.

Yes u have a point....I'll have to check the piggy bank and see if I can get it sorted. Regarding my question, I still do not have a definitive answer - will the 6mm cabling (previously used for an electric shower) from the smaller fuse box (45amp) be enough to power a new range gas cooker...

Installing cooker hood and new cooker.

Thanks for the reply JohnD. I managed to get a kitchen on the cheap and I am only doing that up, then the house goes on the market. We moved into this house quite a while ago and never even had to look at the electrics - following your thorough analysis it does appear that a total re-wiring...

This is the main fuse box... http://www.call2talk.co.uk/images/Fusebox1.jpg and just below it is the 45Amp fuse box with the 6mm cable running from it which was for the shower..... http://www.call2talk.co.uk/images/Fusebox2.jpg

Installing cooker hood and new cooker.

Sorry, maybe I did not explain correctly. I have two fuseboxes - the main one is for the usual house electrics and the second one was solely for the shower and is a 45Amp one. Pics to follow......

Installing cooker hood and new cooker.

Hi again, The consumer unit ("fusebox") is a 45amp one, the old shower cable running from this is 6mm. Can i use this cable to power my cooker (requires min 32Amps) or does it need to be 10mm cable? Thanks again, Nagsy
