    just an update......tried the thing above, no go..... but! this did work... http://download.nai.com/products/mcafee-avert/stinger.exe that nailed it!.......recommended :wink: i know its shifted it cos it did detect the trojan...and im able to now view the symantec site again! yippeeee

    hmmmm....i cant seem to view anything like www.symantec.com / uk etc i can view this though.. http://www.sarc.com/ there is no private message thing here is there?...im a bit worried about posting my email address on a forum :cry: so if i cant view any symantec sites, is it going to stop...

    tell me about it! AVG runs in the background all the time...and warns of virus's etc.....it tells me to run the scan to get rid of it...then dont find it. The link still aint working which is real strange.....ive tried it (quickly) with my firewall off to see if ive set something in...

    ok firstly i click on the link and its saying 'the page cannot be displayed' etc ....odd! AVG just said its found the trojan and to run avg anti virus....which then doesnt find it. Any idea why i cant view the link?

    Hi.... ive somehow managed to get this irc/backdoor.sdbot.27q AVG picks up on it but wont get rid of it when i do a scan. Ive got all the updates from AVG.....also ive run adaware.....and spysweeper. Ive also tried running spysweeper in safe mode as suggested somewhere on the net....but no...

    Hiya..... trying to help a mate out with this! He's trying to do an auto install as he's just moved house, but it keeps saying N. ACT. which i presume means not active or similar. Any suggestions? He's not activated the child lock or anything. Thanks in advance Neil

    ok.....they were very reluctant at first, but i explained that i used to sell the things for 13 years and i know that a machine of this age shouldn't need the bearings replaced. I also said that i had booked service calls for customers before and its a case of 'he who shouts loudest gets...

    My modem just says 'bt voyager 100' on it... BT's answer was that the usb card i have doesnt cope with the power that the modem needs and shuts off.....they recommended an extra pci usb card but advised against SIS...VIA...ALI...& INTEL 82 as these dont work well with the usb modem.     eeek...cant help with the motherboard type!....sorry! Ive checked for the blasterworm virus...all clean. Also i get disconnected, and not shut-down like someone else suggested. I guess i'll try another pci usb card and see if that works
