@terryplumb As the rads are working, (inso much that they are getting very hot) the only logical conclusion was the section from the HW cylinder back to the return common. Magnet test indicated a presence of ferrous material in those pipes.
So the cylinder is currently piped with the coil...
Shut down system, drained it all down..
Stripped down the 3w from the pump and all seems fine. Sits blocking port A untill I move the lever over then moves to mid position if put into manual. Port B has a visible gap.at all.times..
Time to check the port B feed to the cylinder and return.
Radiators are totally working fine.. equal heat bloom on the Thermal imaging camera, but it shows the hot water is only getting halfway from the pump.to the cylinder, even when 3W valve is both positions
All 3 Radiators are all hot which proves flow from pump to 3W valve port A to rads and...
Ok I love a challenge!!
My house heating system has had a pretty tainted history...
It`s an indirect DHW, open vented pumped system.
In Dec I encountered 2 cold rads, only have 3 rads in the house, so we drained down the system. flushed the rads but this didn't really help.
we...
ok so we sort of have hot water, but its no where as hot as it used to be...
more lukewarm / tepid...
feeling the pipes going into the cylinder the input from the 3 way valve is pretty warm to the touch, the output is stone cold.. which would suggest the heat is transferring into the coil...
i` noticed yesterday that my HW from taps was tepid, not hot as it was few days prev, the CH pump running okay, rads nice and hot...
Switching the motorised valve into manual i felt some resistance where it felt like it as trying to go back to auto, pipes seem pretty hot feeding into and out...
Ok, I suspect that the pipes are super clogged as tapping them
Reduces a dull thud, instead a cheery ding which is evident on the cold feed.
Either way I think we'll try x400 in the system (this time with a working pump!) for a few weeks, check the magnaclean.
But sure was good to...
Ok here's the low down.
Power flush carried out yesterday, 6 hours later and magnet filters were totally clogged, indicating a effective powerflush.
Also had the grundfos 15/50 replaced as the impeller was clogged and corroded.
End result is the whole system is certainly better and all...
okay sorry about the slightly confusing ramble!
all rads are downstairs, ie on the same level as the boiler and CH pump, however the pipes feeding them go up into the 1st floor before going back down to the ground floor.
there are no rads installed upstairs, there are pipes there in the...
system is open vented, 3 rads, 1 downstairs very close to the boiler, 2 also down stairs, none upstairs.
problems started with 1 rad down stairs stone cold, other two are red hot.
bled problem rad and got hot water coming from the bleed point, but rad refused to go hot
I...
