    Access to tap fittings advice

We have a granite worktop with an under mount sink. The mixer tap was obviously installed prior to the sink because there is only 2” between the rear wall and the sink itself and the tap rises through a hole cutout in the granite. I cannot gain access from either side or from the back. How...

    Toilet seat removal

How do you undo the seat fittings ? It looks like a nut/bolt rather than a screw securing the hinge to the base. Do I just undo the nuts? There are No fittings accessible under the base, no nuts or screws. Thanks in advance.

    Meter change help

Sunray, thanks… not easily or cheaply…would need a 40m z-shaped run of cable approx plus digging up a sandstone patio/drains.

    Meter change help

Yes..3ph E7….historical reason, there is a disconnected 24KW 3ph swimming pool heater on the wall ! You can scroll thru the readings via the blue button…date/time, peak, off peak, total. That supply might come in useful for EV charging at some point, though I am paying 2 standing charges of...

    Meter change help

Thanks John...The house meter is dated 2008 I think..and the garage 3 phase looks like 2011 (both dates printed on the meters). They are separate supplies. Both were replaced in 2012-ish by SSE. I am just trying to avoid hassle rather than avoiding smart meters. Do they even do Econ7 3-phase...

    Meter change help

Hi..just had a letter from the supplier saying they need to change the econ 7 meters due to Radio 4LW signal etc...but do I really need to change them? The house supply has an old fashioned mech timer...and the garage has a 3 phase supply meter..photos attached.

Airbricks and cavity wall insulation escaping.

We are losing loads of white polystyrene balls via the airbricks. What’s the best way to secure black fibreglass or plastic gauze (like mosquito netting) to the bricks or mortar to prevent this. Cable clips? Sticks- like? Aluminium strip ?We live in a very windy exposed area and the pointing is...

    Refinish Dining Table

if you are in the UK Screwfix do a 0000 wire wool used for fine polishing of wood. I used it on a french polished piano lid with methelayted spirit where a pot plant had caused similar damage and, after re-polishing, it has come up well.

Drawer catching on other drawer handle

Thanks for all the suggestions. I used a 10mm Ali oxide grinding wheel I had in my Dremel kit…seems to have sorted the problem. Just need to touch up some white lacquer to camouflage it a bit. . The units are nearly 40 years old...and it's not noticeable enough to worry about.

Drawer catching on other drawer handle

I am 50% there...one side was doable by adjusting the Hafele horizontal adjustment....just the other side to do which will need some surgery, care and patience.

Drawer catching on other drawer handle

They are a very high gloss lacquer which can split when you try and drill into it….i think they are 1980’s fronts. I might try and create a small hemisphere on the side of the drawer using sandpaper wrapped/glued around a dowel held in a drill and gently present the edge of the drawer front to...
