    If you must have holes in the work top, then why not buy the moulded plug with flex, put flex through the work top then join to the appliance flex (chop off plug) with either inline connector, or some kind of plug/socket (thinking kettle lead/lawn mower connector - earthed).

    You can get adaptors to change between different ends. IE a cable with female kettle lead one end and male clove leaf the other.

    I don't think this is correct. PSTN is being ended by the end of 2025. Internet will still be delivered by VDSL (SOGEA) after that time, albeit without the PSTN service.     This is standard practice in some European countries I believe. One 1.5mm feed to all lighting and sockets in a room, with 16A MCB.
