yea well obviously i am getting it checked but just wanted
some thoughts on it. If the cable was undersized,
would that cause the smell? I was told that it is 10mm
but could be wrong.
In a perfect world the fuse would blow if there was an overload
wouldn't it? That is what im thinking as more was added to the
circuit.
If the cable and fuse holder etc are starting to
smell then would you say that its more likely to be a loose
connection as it enters the Cu rather...
got a fishy smell coming from the consumer unit. some extra sockets were added about a year ago to a sub main which fed the kitchen. The cooker was changed to an electric range. is it likely that the problem can be fixed by upping the fuse rating at the main board? And would the best way of...
am i right in thinking that those downlights on a bar that
are very popular in kitchens are not allowed to be installed
in bathrooms? The sort with 4 halogens that we are familiar with
there r loads of courses. my mate did his in 5 days. i did mine thru the EAL which was a 10 dayer. Although Part P is not a qualification , you do still do an on-line exam about the building regs in general and how they relate to electrical work. there r no restrictions on who dz it. Think...

got a 10.5 kw shower to fit.comes in at 45.65 amps. looking at the on site guide for CCC. 10mm cable ref method 4 says it will carry 43 amps. table 6E1.
so am i looking at the correct table? or can i assume that some
of the cable will be buried in the wall and some will be clipped
direct...
yea thats what i was thinking. Also worth noting is that the pipes enter the house for about 1.5metres before they change to hep20 and then after about 3 metres they change back to copper. So should i link out the plastic bit?
but surely i dont need to bond the oil pipe as it doesnt enter the
property.as for the pipes enering the house, they are the cold feed
to go to the boiler that will already be main bonded and the hot
returning to the property. do i need to main bond that hot pipe?
