Hi all, I’m trying to replace a ceiling light with a basic ceiling rose. I can’t seem to get it to work. Picture one I have red live coming out of the ceiling into brown live on the rose Black neutral from ceiling going into blue neutral on rose Then that unsheathed wire which I presume...

Unbelievable, it was the dimmer switch that had blown! From when I incorrectly wired the lights yesterday. Swapped it over and it's all working. Thanks very much for all your help, I'll make a donation to the forum charity. Cheaper than a sparky anyhow ha ha. cheers again everyone.

Thanks for replying. The dimmer is from B&Q and 2 x 250w. The new lights say max 40w (x 3) and they are those g9 bulbs, the little ones. The wall lights are also max 40w each, so at most it is 3 x 40w, x 2 lights = 240w, plus 40w x 3 on the lights, 120, grand total 360w on a 2 x 250w...

OK so you think it's to do with connections. I was looking for someone to say yes or no if the wiring in theory was correct. If it was then yeah I can mess about with the connections. But didn't want to do that if the wiring set up is wrong........ cos it's a killer holding these bad boys up...

I've uploaded some more images. The three called dining before are the dining one's, before I even took away that old light. The TV now ones, is obviously the TV one, but with no light on. Dining room before Tv now

Ok cheers. If it is those three red loops or the two blacks, any idea on what to change with them.....or should I admit defeat and get an electrician in? cheers again

Not sure what you mean what loads are on ther dimmer? (sorry). But the dimmer was working fine before, on both the two old ceiling lights and the 3 wall lights. Still working fine on the 3 wall lights.

No there's not, aside from the 3 wall lights that have been and still are working fine, controlled from the otherside of this two way dimmer.
