Thanks for this, and to everyone else who's responded so far.
So you're saying to sand it, fill it, then restain but that filler won't take stain - so is the point there that you're just restaining the surrounding wood and that the filler effectively stays the same as when it goes in?
And if I...
I've got a couple of scratches and gouges in my wooden floor (believe it's pine) that I need to try to patch up as best I can. I'm getting the flat ready to rent out and so far the floor repair companies have mostly said nothing can be done other than sanding the whole room back and refinishing...
Nope!
Woodworking noob so very limited equipment and trying to work out if there's anything I can do with stuff that's not too expensive to buy. More in hope that expectation...
Hi all,
I want to edge glue the two boards in the pics to make a small desk but the edges aren't quite flush. I have an electric planer and sander but not a jointer or router. Short of being able to buy or borrow one of those, is there anything people could suggest?
Cheers
Hi, I want to use Phillips hue smart bulbs on ceiling lights that have dimmer switches. When I replace the normal bulbs with the hue ones there's a buzzing sound which I think means I need to replace the dimmers with standard switches?
Firstly, does that sound correct?
Then if so is it a case...
Yeah I can't actually see all the way through the hole (it's only 3.5mm) to make out what's behind it and would be good to be able to know for sure. How would I best go about removing squares of PB?
Hi all, finally getting back round to this. So I poked through with a screwdriver as suggested in one of the spots where the detector seemed to indicate there was a stud and came up against resistance I couldn't push through manually about 25mm in, so that must be the stud? (guess it could be...
Thanks for all the help so far. Based on what people have said, I'm thinking that my best bet is trying to just make a hole in the plasterboard manually with a small screwdriver where I think the stud is - and that should be safe enough even if the detector is suggesting there may be wires...
My original idea was that I'd fix the bracket to the stud - it's one of these so it'd only need to attach to one stud https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00FGSKYKM/ - problem is that the electircal wire detector goes off near/on the stud so I'm assuming that means there are wires running along the stud...
That's essentially the lines I was thinking along but there'd be just as much risk in doing that as there would be if I just started trying to put the bracket up anyway, no?
