    Socket trouble and no RCD?

Thanks. Any suggestions on how to find a suitable electrician? My previous go to electrician is no longer available and going on local recommendation (via Nextdoor) and NICEIC accreditation doesn't seem to have helped much. The only reason I decided to investigate things further myself was...

    Socket trouble and no RCD?

thanks for confirming what I thought. I know the plug-in testers have limited value but figured it was a good starting point given that I have been stung by one bad electrician that came on recommendation! Used to have a good electrician I could draw on but alas no longer.

    Socket trouble and no RCD?

We have been having trouble with some of the sockets (apparent intermittent connection). This sometimes prevents appliances from working (intermittent power) and also appears to be causing issues with the ethernet powerline adapters we are using. I had an electrician take a look and he insisted...

    waste pipe question

Waste pipe for basin in downstairs cloakroom is 40mm. Washing machine close by and needs a waste pipe. Can I tee off the basin waste or do I need to connect directly to soil pipe. Basin waste is 1m run to soil pipe. WM would be 1m to basin waste or about 2.5m to connect direct to soill pipe. NB...

Fixing PUR board insulation to timber joists

Hey, no umbrage taken! I was just trying to emphasise the important bits. I have 380mm below the joists. I've now spoken to Kingspan. They say I need a fixing with head/washer at least 35mm. One of the things they recommended was this http://www.ejot.co.uk/build_htk-tkr.htm but had...

Fixing PUR board insulation to timber joists

I'm not trying to place the insulation BETWEEN the joists. I want to place it UNDER the joists.

Fixing PUR board insulation to timber joists

I want to insulate the ground floor of the house. It is a suspended timber floor and the boards are all up anyway, for other reasons. The joists, however, are only 100 deep. What I want to do is to fix 75mm of PUR insulation to the bottom of the joists (to increase depth of insulation and to...
