Two 15w LED security lights blowing 3A fuse.

Update: I sent the guy an email on the off chance and he's replied with a few things for me to try until he gets back from his holiday. Basically check my wiring in the JB, then disconnect one lamp at a time to rule out a faulty unit/ LED driver. Hopefully it's something as simple as that...

Two 15w LED security lights blowing 3A fuse.

Ah, I see. My apologies, I understand your question now. The wiring instructions for the lamps were: Live=Brown Neutral=Blue Earth=G/Y So within the junction boxes I followed that pattern. At the other end of the T&E my friend followed that pattern on the load side of the FCU, and the same...

Two 15w LED security lights blowing 3A fuse.

I just went by the colours. I guess now that you make me think about it I was assuming the manufacturer had wired them correctly internally. Since they are a sealed unit with flying lead and warnings about opening the unit invalidating the warranty, it was the best I could do.

Two 15w LED security lights blowing 3A fuse.

Not sure if you are serious but I went the standard route, live to live, neutral to neutral, earth to earth (/cpc). As I mentioned, builders ran the cables, not the electrician. Since it is oversized rather than undersized for the application he thought it perfectly adequate to use. The...

Two 15w LED security lights blowing 3A fuse.

Sorry, I thought I'd already gone on long enough. The lamps are these: https://www.screwfix.com/p/luceco-guardian-led-floodlight-pir-black-15w-warm-white/1633v A single 1.5mm T&E run from the CU to the FCU, then on through the roof void to one lighting location. Another cable daisy chains from...

Two 15w LED security lights blowing 3A fuse.

Hi all, As title, I have two 15W LED PIR security lights running through a switched FCU and they are blowing the 3A fuse within in. I would have thought 3A was way more than capable of handling that load, is there something I'm missing? A bit more detail if you've got this far: We've recently...

Front door cylinder replacement - keep old key

A good mate of mine, who happens to be a master locksmith, recommended GT85 to me when I had a sticky lock. It cleans out the cylinder as WD40 would, but leaves a more lasting lubrication. I think I found it in the Halfords bike department.

garage done the work without telling me the cost

It depends on what you asked him to do. Clearly he did more than just replace the aux belt for that money.

    Winter tyres

Very well I would imagine! Apart from the obvious ground clearance issues if it was really deep. It doesn't help one bit, and that can create it's own problems. I can get just about anywhere in my S4, even on regular tyres, but there's a danger of that leading to over confidence. Turning and...

    Winter tyres

My brother had some Cross Climates fitted to his Octavia Scout. He does a lot of mileage and so far has nothing but good things to say about them.

    Building Regs in 1980 question.

Posting to keep an eye on future replies as this is of interest to me too. We're currently having our 1980 kitchen extension further extended. Since it's the coldest part of the house by far I'm convinced there is no cavity insulation, and I know there is virtually nothing in the flat roof...

Loft insulation & floorboards - the basics

Is it possibly insulated overhead? Below the rafters? Thus making it a warm loft, part of the heated area of the house? That might explain why they've never insulated where you plan to.

    Bad spray job

I paint cars for a living so maybe I can help. I also did the man in a van bit for a while so can see it from both sides. When you said you had them back 3 times to "go over it", do you mean they painted it that many times? If so then that's your problem right there. Far too much paint and it...

Downlights or Kitchen Installation - Which should come first?

Sorry to dive into someone else's topic but I'm considering LED panels for our kitchen, are there any you could recommend? As with anything LED these days everyone is jumping on the bandwagon and it's hard to sort the wheat from the chaff. Quality and longevity takes priority over cost.

    Low tack masking tape

I'm in the bodyshop trade so use masking tape every day. Regular stuff with the sticky side run over your trousers to reduce the tack works perfectly for me :D
