I don't think its bitumen its an inch thick in places and hard as stone it looks like its been injected into the mortar course and hardened
I was thinking of using this stuff by removing a bed of mortar and back filling to fix a wall i have that is suffering from raising damp

I was thinking of removing a whole bed of mortar bit by bit and packing out with 2/3 steel bars to support each brick then filling gaps in with silicone or expending foam. What do you think of this idea?
