Thanks for your replies. In answer to.your questions, the client saw this on another smaller gate and has requested a replica so a routed solid piece on the gate or copper strip is not really an option. The top piece will be 1 solid length routed and sat on the apex to cover the joint...

Not really, the gates are 7 feet tall and then the frame is another foot tall so minimum of about 7.5 feet high to the lowest point of the capping I'd say...

Hello all, I'm about to hang a stable door and I've seen many suggestions that the easiest way to do this is to clamp, or pin the 2 halves together first - this seems very sensible but no-one actually mentions how or where is best to do so....sorry if this seems like a stupid thing to ask but...
