THanks to you all. Thought you might like to know the answer. The engineer replaced the phtocell first...no joy. Then he replaced the control unit still no joy. After phoning a few others in the trade it turned out to be the solenoid. After changing this...hooray....heating again. He...

    Boulter (OIL) boiler not firing

You're right...I did mean the blower. When I turn on the stat (I assume you mean the combined on / off & themostat control at the top right?), the blower starts. When I press the button (accesssed through a hole in the red box labelled RIELLO) the blower stops until the button is...

    Boulter (OIL) boiler not firing

I can hear the pump working on our boiler, but it is not firing up. Serviced only in Sept. Oil tank level is fine and I've checked the header tank in the loft to ensure that water is getting to the boiler and it also is fine. Anything I can do?

    Replacing Asbesto Garage Ridge Tiles

THanks to both of you (Markie and noseall)...clearly a knowedgable bunch; I found this site earlier today, but have been faicinated to read through loads of posts where you've given invaluable info. Will I need to attempt to measure the angle of the ridge tiles or would that be...

    Replacing Asbesto Garage Ridge Tiles

Do I need to measure the "shape" of the corrugation or is it standard? It's a concrete garage (think it was a Marley, but not sure) probably erected in the 80's; I'd guess that the "wavelength" of the corrugation is about 4 or 5 inches (obviously I could measure this accurately) Peter...
