i have a 14 month old worcester greenstar 24i jnr it has developed a knock noise. it sounds like a metal on metal noise coming from the heat cell. worcester have been out to it today and replaced the fan, the man is thinking the fan might have gone out of balance and making the exchanger move...

the boiler is firing when not in use because it has a prewarm feature so even if your not asking for hot water every so often it will fire to ensure the secondary heat exchanger is hot so when you draw off the hot water you dont have to wait for it to warm up the boiling noise you are getting...
