    removing row of tiles

Sounds good, I bought one of those plastic handled serrated steel grout scrapers, and in no time at all it was blunt enough to have been sold at Mothercare as a kiddies toy :(

    Kitchen Cabinet Supplier

Focus Do it all are pretty cheap, their cheapest 1000mm base unit goes for £22.80 at the moment, thought the doors are a cr*p white. I'm sure there are better quality out there but if you are going for replacement doors etc, then the range is basic but at a bargain price.

    removing row of tiles

I found a club hammer to be an excellent tool for breaking up tiles, unfortunately it also does an excellent job of breaking up the area of unsupported plasterboard behind it. So unless you want my title of DIY muppet of the year the above suggestion for removal looks good :)

    Kitchen worktop finishes

Cheers, nothing wrong with flippant, I like humorous posts, I think I've managed to finally convince wifey to forgo the shiny surfaces in favour of something a little more durable, so matt finish here we come :)

    Kitchen worktop finishes

That's fair enough, it's just that it would be easy to make a choice based on visual appeal, but I'd hate to regret it later if a gloss finish surface ended up with loads of tiny scratches and looked bad, while a less attractive matt finish could put up with the usual wear and tear. I hoped...

    Kitchen worktop finishes

Thanks guys, though considering the amount of people who have viewed this thread and who I must assume own worktops of some description, I'm surprised so few cared to voice an opinion and help me out with this choice by sharing their experience. You'll forgive me if I don't try the handy...

    Kitchen worktop finishes

I'm looking for some feedback on how people find their worktop surfaces fare against stains and small scratches? Wifey wants ours replaced with a gloss finish, but we've previously had a matt finish without any problems and I'd hate to go for gloss only to find it ends up looking a mess...

    Blowing Dimmer Switches

I've always had a dimmer on a two way system but it seems like I have to replace the dimmer every few months as it suddenly blows and will then only switch on and off. The switches aren't underrated and I've tried various brands with the same result, they last for a few months and then blow...

    Fried dimmer?

Cheers Breezer, the dimmer was indeed fried, guess I'll put that one down to experience and be a bit more careful in future :)

    Fried dimmer?

Ineptly installed 240v halogen track lighting, replacing conventional single light on a two way circuit including a dimmer. Initially screwed up the wiring and tripped the fuse, sorted my mistake and now everything works as before.......exept the dimmer now no longer dims. It's a push...
