    Tightening single ended compression fittings

yes, that looks exactly the thing that would have been useful! Always assumed they grabbed the olive somehow, didn’t realise it threaded into the actual nut

    Tightening single ended compression fittings

Thanks both, thought I’d check for next time, mole grips it is. Tangential question, when removing the old valve, it was so tight against a soldered fitting that I couldn’t move the nut back enough to get to the olive - needed to get it off to clean up the pipe prior to fitting new valve. Ended...

    Tightening single ended compression fittings

Hi, wondering how other people do this: have just replacing the filling loop for my central heating as the old one was weeping from the check valve. The bit I had real trouble with was getting the isolation valve for the heating side tightened up enough. Normally with compression fittings I use...

    4 way fittings

    Primed exterior wood over winter

Hi I stripped my wooden backdoor frame earlier in the year intended to repaint ut but due to a series of unfortunate events i never got a chance to do it. I now have time and money, but i understand that painting outside in cold weather is not recommended due to the damp getting to the paint...

Weather bar & around door strips - wooden door

Hello Looking for a bit of consensus about my back door. It is made of wood and is in quite an exposed location, so I am looking to improve my defences against the elements. I have identified two improvements that I would make, installing around door strips, and a weather bar (links below so...
