    Connecting to old plastic pipe

So I'll cut the grey pipe to the right of the joist. I'm going to join it to another plastic pipe (not on the picture). One last question, can I use the hep fittings on the new style plastic pipes ? The new pipes look like they are currently connected using JG pushfits.

    Connecting to old plastic pipe

Can I use standard push fit bits on this old plastic pipe ? The fittings at the end are marked with hbp but rather than try and remove them simply cut the pipe and add a push fit connection instead. Is that possible or do I have to use some special sort of fitting on them ? Thanks!

    Tripping electrics

Ha! thanks for short swift response! Getting quotes at the moment to replace the fuse box with something more up to date.

    Tripping electrics

So we've had our electricity tripping randomly.. We have an old fuse board so all the circuits are on a single rcd, so fault finding has been tricky. We got home today to a burning smell from the area, called an emergency electrician who found the tails going into the meter had come lose, he...

Working with galvanized steel pipe (Water)

Thanks, I spoke to someone else who suggested that I might be able to unscrew it at the t piece with a bit of force. I might order a plasson coupling as well as a backup i.e. cut the pipe just before the t piece and add it there if I run into trouble. In an ideal world id get someone else to do...

Working with galvanized steel pipe (Water)

You can see on the 2nd image how the pipe comes over the top of the first one which means it's sticking out above the floor level by about 20mm. Would ideally like it cut at picture one and then joined to the copper.

Working with galvanized steel pipe (Water)

Is this a specialist job ? I just need a piece cut (so it will not protrude above some floorboards) and then joined back into the copper pipe. We had a plumber out today who said he couldn't do it because he didn't have the correct tools. Just wondering if i'm going to get major issues tracking...

    Random tripping

Our sockets seem to be randomly tripping overnight, everything is fine during the day but trip in the middle of the night. On Monday i switched off all the circuits apart from the plugs and it didn't trip, last night i left on the upstairs lighting circuit and the plugs and it did trip. I'm not...

    Split existing ring main

The shower cable is rcd protected. The kitchen is at the end of the house so I'm guessing that finding the start and the end of the existing ring shouldn't be that bad!? The idea to break it up was just purely down to load as currently it does trip quite a bit.... We also have or the usual...

    Split existing ring main

Hey, We live in a 3 bed house where all the sockets upstairs and downstairs are on one circuit. I've recently renovated the bathroom and switched from an electric shower to it running of the combi. So I now have a spare shower cable, directly below the bathroom is the kitchen, I can see that...

    Ravenheat boiler whistling

Hi, I live on the seafront and when it's really windy, the wind causes the ravenheat boiler to whistle. It doesn't matter if the boiler is on or off, it still happens. The flue faces directly out horizontal and takes the full force of the wind and the rain. I've tried covering the flue from...
