    Shower pump

But what if there are other demands on the cold water supply, surely the pressure would go down ? Would it not be better to have a dedicated pumped supply that didn't get affected by someone turning on the washing machine ?

    Shower pump

Bit worried about the rising main pressue, it's not that great at the best of times. Got normal bath, washing machine, etc on the mains as well. Wanted to totally isolate the shower with a dedicated feed from cold water tank. This seemed to be the best option (if it's do-able!)

    Shower pump

Looking at installing a shower pump for a electric (8.5Kw) shower which is fed from the cold water tank (CWT). Shower head is approx 1m below CWT. Plan is to install pump in garage (more than 1m below CTW !) which then feeds water back to the shower head. Can anyone answer the following: 1...

    Fitting a shower cubicle

Probably a stupid question........is the sand and cement mix just a mix of cement and sand or do you add water to it as well ? I guess the tray (ceramic (heavy) one) would be happy with a mix without water as well. Regards Ricke

    Replacing lath/plaster ceiling with plasterboard

I'm doing a complete refurb of my shower room, starting from the top down. The room's got a lath/plaster celiing which I want to replace with plasterboard. If the ceiling was a regular shape, I wouldn't be asking this question but as the room is on the side of the house, the ceiling is flat and...

    ceiling cracks

Got a similar problem in a boxroom where the ceiling is painted. Have you tried some of the flexible fillers you can get ? It worked for me, but the cracks were not that big. Else maybe you should get the ceiling re-skimmed ?

    Floor insulation

Thanks for that...so cross section wise from the top you'll have the floorboards, polystyrene slabs (in line with the joists), polystyrene sheets and then the plasterboard/plywood ? How think are the slabs and sheets ?

    Floor insulation

We've got a bedroom that gets rather cold due to it being above an integral garage. Has anyone gone any ideas about insulating between the two ? I was thinking about fixing (from the garage) loft insulation in between the joists and then covering with plasterboard or plywood. Any comments ?

    Copper Pipe

Why only a softwater area ? I've got lead mains water pipe and thinking about replacing it but we live in a hardwater area ? Would the hardness of the water affect your choice ?

    Painting on plaster

Just about to have one of our rooms plastered and will be painted once finished. Can I paint straight onto the plaster (after waiting the necessary time ) or must I put up lining paper ?

    Copper Pipes

We recently moved to quite a old house which has got lead pipes for the main's supply. Can any plumbers out there give a estimate on how much it would cost to replace the lead to plastic/copper ? Also how far back would the pipe work go...right back to the water meter/stopcock ?

    Hot water but no heating

Could be: 1. On my system there's switch on my timer/programmer that allows me to select CH, Hot Water or both. Has this been switched to CH only ? 2. ALso on my system is a three way valve, close to the pump, which (I think) diverts the hot CH water to the hot water cylinder to heat up...
