Gap between Celotex & outside Tiles, Fill it with RockWo

Hi, we are now getting to the stage with our loft conversion where the Celotex insulation boards need to be installed. The specs are 75mm Celotex boards between the joists overlaid with 40mm Celotex boards and then plaster boards over those. My question is that the thickness of the roof...

Stud wall top plate between two joists - Are noggins ok?

Thanks chaps! I was thinking I might have to spend thirty quid on timber putting another joist in! Your comments really appreciated.

Stud wall top plate between two joists - Are noggins ok?

I’m building a stud wall in our loft conversion which spans the width of the house. The run of the wall is under the sloping roof on each side with a straight part in the middle. One side of the sloping part is directly underneath, and parallel to, the existing roof joist but the other side...

Loft Steel frame boxed in with vapour board AND CELOTEX?

Hi Freddy, many thanks for your response. I've gave up with the Architect ages ago so not going to bother contacting them! Yes the steels are in the roof, but not entirely hidden by the roof timbers. I've attached a photo if that is any help: I'm just over 6ft tall and the...

Loft Steel frame boxed in with vapour board AND CELOTEX?

I have architects plans for our loft conversion which state that the steel frame, where showing, is to be boxed in with 25mm Celotex T-Break and then 12.5mm Foil Backed Plasterboard and skim. I can see the point of the 12.5mm vapour board to provide the building regulations fire protection...

Power to summer house - worried about neighbour

My neighbour (recently widowed) has had an electrician run a power supply to her summer house. From the view from our house (which she can't see) I'm worried about the quality of the work and would appreciate any comments before I talk to her about it. She has a 1930's bungalow with concrete...

Internal stud wall. MDF as alternative to plasterboard?

xr4x4, thanks for that, Thinking about it, i can't see that it matters if you use plasterboard, MDF, Plyboard, (asbestos!) or any other sort of cladding really? I'm confused now, does anyone else have an idea?

Internal stud wall. MDF as alternative to plasterboard?

Hi Deluks, thanks for that. I was thinking it had to be plasterboard both sides then the MDF sheet on top, just hoping we might be able to save on time & cost! I'm not looking at the fake T&G, it's really expensive! What i'm planning is whole sheets of smooth MDF with rectangle mouldings...

Internal stud wall. MDF as alternative to plasterboard?

Hi, first time posting here! I'm in the process of designing the staircase for our loft conversion and have been inspired by work done in a hotel we recently stayed at (The Dart Bridge Inn in at Buckfastleigh if that helps!). They seemed to have clad walls with a smooth surface board (MDF...
