Can I reduce the heat of my towel rad? Or should it stay fully 'open'

I can't seem to control the heat with the flow valve on the towel rad. I close it completely, and try and back off in tiny increments, but no heat comes. Then it makes a kind of clunk noise in the valve, and the heat comes through full. Its as if I can't really close it down just a bit

Can I reduce the heat of my towel rad? Or should it stay fully 'open'

Yeah but that's what I meant, if I turn down the Boiler so the towel radiator is the right heat (not boiling hot), then all the other rads don't get hot enough to heat rooms in the winter

Can I reduce the heat of my towel rad? Or should it stay fully 'open'

Thanks its a Worcester greenstar 25i But yes I've been experimenting with trying to close the flow valve down, and its very hard to get it right. IT has to be fully closed then slightly backed off by a fraction, but even then it does seem to get very hot. So obviously not the best option If I...

Can I reduce the heat of my towel rad? Or should it stay fully 'open'

Ok thanks, and can you turn it off completely? I thought the water had to flow through it to reach the other radiators, but maybe I've misunderstood altogether!

Can I reduce the heat of my towel rad? Or should it stay fully 'open'

Hi I remember reading before that one radiator in the system , probably the towel rad should be left fully open. I have a combi boiler and normal rads througout the house with TRVs. The towel rad is just boiling hot all the time, and often we need the window open a bit to ventilate the...

Should plumber add inhibitor when replacing rads? And do I need system flush

Thats exactly what I've asked for. just waiting for a reply

Should plumber add inhibitor when replacing rads? And do I need system flush

Yeah all good points. The job cost nearly £500 as he was running some pipes through the stairs into a room without heating, so it was quite a big job. But yeah definitely doesn't feel like I should have to ask for him to put inhibitor in. I genuinely thought it was a silly question to ask...

Should plumber add inhibitor when replacing rads? And do I need system flush

Thanks yeah thats what I thought. He should have had inhibitor in the van, and as he didn't should be prepared to come back and top it up. Not just leave the system with no inhibitor in it and hope I don't say anything As you say it would have taken no extra time. Ah frustrating, he's a nice guy...

Should plumber add inhibitor when replacing rads? And do I need system flush

Well I got this reply. And it doesn't feel right because he quoted for a days work, and it took a day exactly. Also I offered he could do it on an hourly rate if he was unsure how long it would take, as it was a fiddly job for one rad. Hi Alex, The job took much longer than anticipated and...

Should plumber add inhibitor when replacing rads? And do I need system flush

Ok thanks so I'll be firm with them about inhibitor I'm a bit confused about the power flush now, and if I need to do any kind of bigger flush/chemical clean? All rads are new within the last year or so, these ones just being done are the last remaining ones. But I've never had a power...

Should plumber add inhibitor when replacing rads? And do I need system flush

Hi I just had a plumber fit two new radiators to my system (Worcester combiner's boiler in a victorian terraced house in Bristol, uk). He drained the system and did the work I emailed after to ask if he put inhibitor in and he said he had run out but could come back to put it in, but it will...

How to get live wire to fan with only access through small downlight holes!?

Thanks all good advice, and it may come to this if the joists are not running in my favour!

How to get live wire to fan with only access through small downlight holes!?

Ah ok, so it all really depends on the joists. I will check when I can I dont like the sound of most of those options!

How to get live wire to fan with only access through small downlight holes!?

I do have coving along one wall, but it would mean putting it on the end walls too and could look a bit odd, and be a hassle as I stuck whats up there already very well! I think trying to get it in the ceiling space will be preferable, fingers crossed
