We re-used the old ball as there didn't seem to be anything wrong with it and was exactly the same as the new ones.
The float has been set to the same level as the previous one (with a bend in the arm) and is well over 50mm lower than the overflow
I think it just drips very occasionally after being held up ( I am at work at the mo) so I will try it when I get home later. It's the constant dripping for 2 hours when I go to bed that drives me nuts!
Hi, the valve on my hot water header tank has been dripping for some time and getting worse. A friend changed it for me at the weekend, but it is still dripping for about 2 hrs after shutting off a hot water tap. Is there anything I can do or is this normal?

Do you think it's worth me trying to get the boiler serviced (if anyone will do it), or should I leave it be as there's no problems at the moment?
Also I've got a dripping valve in the header tank above the hot water cylinder but it's right next to the ceiling and seems...

The contractor made me sign a disclaimer to say I knew I was at risk (of fumes coming in the window) and I didn't want them to turn the boiler off. Should I worry about this or is it just a formality?

I have a Thorn Apollo boiler which I gather may be approx 15-20 yrs old. It was already in my house when I bought it 5 years ago and never had any problems with it. In my wisdom I decided to take out a maintenance contract for it but it was refused because the flue is less than 300mm from a top...
