Can anyone explain why I had to reset my alarm?

That was my first thought but after leaving on mains power for 24 hours it still did the beep thing. So I looked into a bit more. I've not heard it personally but the install manual says a low battery is 8 (or 7... not in the garage now, where the manual is) monotone beeps every 60 seconds. I'm...

Can anyone explain why I had to reset my alarm?

I'm not replacing batterys at an alarming rate. I've replaced it once, to replace the battery that was dead when I bought the house (I actually replaced the entire system as it was broken so probably been powered off for a LONG time, hence the battery being dead). Although noted that they don't...

Can anyone explain why I had to reset my alarm?

Yes I left the battery connected. Lasted surprisingly long.

Can anyone explain why I had to reset my alarm?

Hi, The issue is solved but I'm curious as to if anyone knows what the issue was, or how to fix it in future. Veritas 8C, installed by yours truly 2 years ago. I had to power off the garage for a couple of days (the alarm is solely in the garage, monitoring the garage). When I turned the...

Surely modifying the roof this way isn't legit?

Thanks Notch. I'm not worried about specifics, more questioning the general idea. Some think it may be possible so I'll sort out an engineer (required or not, I'd be happier with proper plans etc). S/he may say it can't be done BUT at least I'm reasonably confident that it has at least a chance...

Surely modifying the roof this way isn't legit?

Interesting, thanks for the info. So maybe I'd be wrong to criticise this roofer and shouldn't immediately discount his ideas then. I'd still feel safer having an engineer look at it first mind. Pic attached, hard to get a good position.

Surely modifying the roof this way isn't legit?

Exactly that, I'm not an engineer (obvs) but I do read things and take note. The sides being pushed out was the most prevalent issue I read with respect to cutting bits of roof trusses out. And you might not have issues for months, even years, but eventually it could happen. And what Bernard...

Surely modifying the roof this way isn't legit?

Unless of course by "lift" you think I mean something you step into to move you between floors. I mean car lift. 4 post ramp type thing.

Surely modifying the roof this way isn't legit?

Why on earth would it be a joke thread? I'm not here saying "I'm going to cut my roof into bits, does that sound OK?" I'm asking the opposite. My limited research and, to a lesser extent - common sense - says that this kind of modification is an absolute no-no. But now I have a highly rated...

Surely modifying the roof this way isn't legit?

I'm looking to raise my ceiling in the garage to make room for a lift so getting quotes for the roof taking off and put back together like an attic space. But one of the roofers has suggested he can get the desired result by reinforcing the existing roof and then cutting a foot from the middle...
