Has anybody had any experience of using NHBC building control rather the local authority !? I am doing a selfbuild and decided to go for the NHBC warranty, seems to make sense to have a single inspection at each stage by NHBC rather than double up.

I've got a fair bit of DIY coming up and my mix of £15 drill, and even cheaper jigsaw and angle grinder and various bodging techniques are struggling. Any recommendations in the slightly better price range ? What can I get for 30-40 quid in each case. Doing various tasks including fitting a...
