    Squealing Oil Boiler

Thanks for the reply Bob. There is no pressure gauge to check in this system, although I have seen on previous boilers. hmmm, not sure what to do about that. One thing I noticed last night with the boiling running for a bit is that it takes a few minutes before it squeals, but the longer the...

    Squealing Oil Boiler

Thanks for the replies. I had the engineer out to look at it. He replaced the nozzle and said the burner was running fine. The oil filter tank end was also clean. When trying to first recreate the problem he ran the burner and the squealing would not happen with the air supply tube unattached...

    Squealing Oil Boiler

Hi there, We put the heating on today as we have been away (in addition to heating the hot water) and after a few hours we noticed some squealing from our Grant Vortex Pro Oil Boiler (15/21 Utility). Our annual service is not due until November but I am thinking I need to get this checked, and...

Asbestos garage roof - what to do?

Hi there, I have a single garage that I need to park my car in, currently it is used as a storage area for bikes, tent, toys, garden equipment etc. The roof itself is made up of large asbestos sheets, which are fairly in tact and may have been up there since the 70's but possibly as far back as...

Grant Oil Boiler - Pro utility 15/21 Not firing

Just checked - photocell has been changed as well. Burnerman - Think so, they tried alternate burner motor also I believe. What would this achieve?

Grant Oil Boiler - Pro utility 15/21 Not firing

Thanks for all your replies. Aquaheat 1)Valves open - I will ensure plumber does this tomorrow 2) I saw oil pressure being achieved at pump when tested last week 3) 50v on white wire. Again, I will need plumber to check. 4) And I can confirm it is a Riello RDB burner. Oilhead Not sure about...

Grant Oil Boiler - Pro utility 15/21 Not firing

From your description I don't think there was a 'click' at all, just a push in and out again. I actually had to hit the lock out button to get it to run then. The motor then runs for 20-30 seconds and the boiler attempts to fire, just after it tries it turns off. Previously it would go into a...

Grant Oil Boiler - Pro utility 15/21 Not firing

Just checked it, unscrewed it. There is a white plastic button underneath, it doesn't appear flush so it could be out. I pressed it for good measure but no effect. And it was installed in March 2012 and has been services annually since.

Grant Oil Boiler - Pro utility 15/21 Not firing

Thanks for the reply. This wasnt all done at once, and I have only paid for the fuel line (which needed doing). The plumber is a decent guy and has taken advice along the way. Speaking to both the new and old plumbers they have both said there is little to go wrong and it should be running. I...

Grant Oil Boiler - Pro utility 15/21 Not firing

Hi All, We are in our second week of no heating which is not much fun. We have had a few problems with our Grant boiler, basically not firing. There is oil, more detail below, and the motor runs but it won't fire. Building up to this point we had an intermittent fault which resulted in the...

Oil burner on but no hot water or heating

Leakydave - There is no system pressure gauge so I can't check. Burnerman - no it does not shut down - its on, but nothing heats up.

Oil burner on but no hot water or heating

The boiler is on i.e. its noisey, but there is no heat. If I feel around the unit itself there is some residual heat but not much. Pipes and hot water tank stone cold.

Oil burner on but no hot water or heating

Tried it but no luck. Boiler still fires up and runs but no heat. I also tried bleeding the system. Oil comes through, no real evidence of bubbles, but again no heat. Any other ideas?

Oil burner on but no hot water or heating

I did press the lock-out button when it was switched off but not the overheat thermostat reset button on the top panel. I will go an do both now. Is it simply a case of depressing when the boiler is off?
