Weird Green Stuff coming from T+E cable

Got this strange situation in a mates house where green stuff is ouzing from the T+E cables on his ring main. House was built in 1970ish but the cable is of the plastic type and not the old 60's rubber insulation. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

    A complex problem?

Hi Paul, Yes you DO have a claim against the original DNO who installed the meter back in the 1980's. But I might stress here that this will not be easy. Do have the faulty items still in your possesion or replacment receipts? If not, you would have to make a nominal figure for the...

Even though this is a bit uncouth. The engineers that do the work are bribable with things like tea/coffee and bacon sandwiches.........

New kitchen layout - does this comply?

You'll need 4mm T'+E for all cabling. Plus I'd be un happy have 2 sockets daisy chained from a JB. Also PART P is involved here and trying to find a sparky to certify your own work "even if you have only pulled the cables" will be difficult. So its best left for a qualified sparky who will...

Garage Electrics Tidy UP (PART P)

Just getting down to the nitty gritty of notifyable. As I'm planning on getting rid of my electric shower, would I have to notify if where going to disconnect the cable in CU as it will be re-dundant. Plus don't like the idea of the breaker having a piece of tape over it hold it in the OFF...

Garage Electrics Tidy UP (PART P)

I've got a split load CU with a built RCD so this will protect the sockets. Needed the extra socket for the garage door lifter I'll be getting later on.

Garage Electrics Tidy UP (PART P)

Thanks crafty, On the spur topic of the post. Since I will be a running a length of 2.5mm to a single socket, I was wondering if I put a FCU with a 13A fuse in line before the socket, could I then daisy chain another socket off the back of it?

Garage Electrics Tidy UP (PART P)

Hi there, I know I'm probably going to get the backs up of the PART P experts and this may of been discussed before, but since I'm fairly experianced in DIY electrics and feel competent and understand what is required and the design of whats needed to carry out the job from start to finish...
