Intermittent issue with garage door opener

Yes I have a spare remote control and the problem remains whichever remote or wall mounted switch is used. The sensor is built into the motor unit. When the motor is disengaged the door can be opened and closed by hand albeit very heavy. Thanks for the link but it didn't cover the model we have.

Intermittent issue with garage door opener

I have a double up and over garage door powered by a Hormann motor. When operated the door will open by a few inches and then stop. On other (rare) occasions the door will fully open without stopping. Could this intermittent issue be a problem with the sensor detecting a non existent...

    Using laquer - advise needed.

I have several large brass items –mainly exterior door fittings etc- which regularly need cleaning. I can achieve a good finish with brass polish but inevitably after a year or so they begin to dull and tarnish. Of late I’ve used OOOO grade steel wool resulting in a good shine (no polish) but...

    Hole for concrete screw

I need to fix a plate to concrete paving slabs using M6x50mm concrete bolts/screws. I've read differing views some saying a 5mm pilot hole others saying 6mm. What size bit should I use? Thanks

    Reversible DC motor

Hi Folks I’m buying a small 12v DC motor which is required to rotate in both directions. Some of these motors are sold as ‘reversible’ whilst others don’t mention this in the description. Aren’t all of these motors reversible if the polarity is swapped? Thanks Roy

    Problem complying with APN 12

We are laying a patio partially within the RPA of a TPO tree (upon application the LA didn’t want to know!) In compliance with Arboricultural Practice Note 12 (APN12) and BS5837 the layers are as follows, starting from the ground up: Ground Geo textile membrane Geocell (or similar) cellular root...

    Flue or not ?

Thanks for the input folks. We had virtually decided on the Bells vento, but.... our existing gas supply is 15mm but another 'approved' Bells dealer said it can only be installed with a 22mm supply otherwise the flame height/spread will diminish when the central heating is on and they were...

    Flue or not ?

I would have been best posting in the Gas Fitters Only forum but I'm not a RGI so here goes. We wish to have installed either a Bells vento classic or a Gazco Riva2 750HL Edge -virtually identical gas fires. The Bells vento classic requires a balanced flue or possibly a chimney flue. However...

    Problems with new shower

Hi, Thanks for that. The pump is located in the loft directly above the new shower whilst the old ensuite shower is about 2 meters from the pump.

    Problems with new shower

We have a shower in the ensuite bathroom fed from a hot water tank in the airing cupboard via a pump in the loft. We recently had the family bathroom refitted and a new shower installed with the feed T’ed off the existing pump outlet. When the new shower lever is turned on it can take several...

Laminate or tiles over UF heating?

I’m having a conservatory built, internal floor 18 sq m. The builder will finish at the screeded floor level and I will install the flooring. I will be laying electric underfloor heating mats and I’m undecided between tiles and laminate flooring. Some of the conservatory companies advise...

Building Regs Classification of a Conservatory

Thanks for that Richard , most informative. Upon visiting my LA Building Control I have tried to discuss matters but they insist –verbally- that IF the conservatory comes within permitted development the building regs will not apply and a site visit is not possible. However my research...

    Old drawings

In a previous post under ‘building’ I have raised various questions relating to foundations for a conservatory. Due to clay soil conditions and a nearby mature tree two separate structural engineering companies have advised me to have a hole dug as close as possible to the existing house...
