Thanks for the help. I've done 2 full rooms so far & it only happens occasionally. The most infuriating thing is I don't know what's causing it, so don't know what I need to change.

Currently, one edge of the path that runs down the side of my house & to the back of the garden is sat ~30-40cm higher than the ground level of the house it joins onto.

That would essentially put the bottom of the threshold at floor level, with the cill below, so the step over would just be the threshold height, correct?

I'm normally quite DIY savy, but never had this situation before, so after some opinions... I'm opening an existing window downwards, and replacing with french doors. My question is regarding how low should this go for the doors?
Normally I'd have thought it wants to stop at floor level...
