If your that concerned I would take it up with the gas safe register, they should investigate
Unfortunatly qualifications don't always ensure good workmanship, a 'messy' looking job may well be safe as could a 'tidy' job be unsafe, we as lay people have no idea

Current boiler Gloworm Ultimate 50FF, 50,000 btu (fan flue), proposed replacement Gloworm Flexicom 12HX, so around 40,000 btu (condensing), so not like for like, but less output, hence the original question

I've just checked it and it starts with 04, well that's cleared that up then :D, and your other comment pretty much sum up my call to them (see my last post)
