Is the appliance double-insulated (two-core flex, no earth in plug)? If it is it should not be earthed.

It'd probably be better to simply run the cables horizontally from the sockets themselves? You could argue that with the hood, no one would be drilling there and therefore it'd be okay to stick the cable there, but that still wouldn't be in line with the regulations - you could use some...

The socket will be on a ring-main, where the cable loops between all the sockets on the circuit. If you plan on tiling over the area, you'll need to use crimps to connect the cables together (red to red, black to black). using a suitable crimper
