    Gas cooker plug and socket

Ideally I would like it be done as correctly as possible. So if you could suggest a better (the most correct) way, I can suggest this to my electrician.

    Gas cooker plug and socket

Ok - so best practice would be just to replace the outlet plate with a single socket.

    Gas cooker plug and socket

Ok Thanks. Can the cooker outlet plate just be replaced with a single plug socket? So the 6mm cable goes to a single socket? Or is it better to run a 2.5mm cable from the outlet plate to a new socket next to it?

Its currently on a 32A RCBO. What should this be changed to if anything?

    Gas cooker plug and socket

I have just had my kitchen redone and the kitchen rewired with a new 6mm cable installed for an electric cooker. However I have changed my mind and now will be installing an all gas cooker instead of an electric cooker. The gas cooker comes with a plug for the hob lighter and oven light...

aluminium door wont lock (the handle wont go up) when the door is in closed position but works when door is open

My front Aluminium door wont lock (ie the handle wont go up) when the door is closed. But it works perfectly fine when the door is open. I thought the locking mechanism might be catching the inserts in the door frame so I tried adjusting them by moving them up and down but still have the same...

    Precast or Prestressed lintels

Ok thanks. I think I will use the 65mm x 100mm Prestressed concrete Lintel Textured 1200/1500mm available from BD. Is there a particular way they need to be installed, ie is there a top side and bottom side? as I read somewhere that they are ever so slightly curved due to the prestressing...

    Precast or Prestressed lintels

Maybe the correct question I should be asking is, should I use prestressed lintels or non prestressed lintels. Theres something I across about one type of lintel is only effective when you build at least 3 courses of brick work over it after its been laid. I wont be able to build anything on...

    Precast or Prestressed lintels

Im having my property refurbished and as part of the works i'm upgrading all the windows. The windows currently have old wooden lintels (on the internal leaf of the 9inch wall) and I want to use this opportunity to replace all the wooden lintels with concrete lintels. Should I be using Precast...

DPC/DPM in wall below external ground level.

Ive decided to go with Liquid DPM painted on the inside of the external leaf. I have another question which i'm hoping someone can help me. I need to run a soil pipe through this wall (above the external floor level, but below the DPC level). I know I will be penetrating the vertical DPM, but...

DPC/DPM in wall below external ground level.

Any thoughts on what would be the best vertical DPM to use out of the 3 options above?

DPC/DPM in wall below external ground level.

Yes that did cross my mind. But I was planning on using the first row of ties starting just above the dpc. I presumed the first 6/7 rows of bricks below the dpc would be ok without any ties.

DPC/DPM in wall below external ground level.

I'm rebuilding a 9 inch wall (on the existing foundations) and I just wanted some advice on whether I've got the right set up in regards to the DPC and vertical DPM. The external floor level (concrete) is about 45cm higher than the internal floor level. Currently there is no dpc/dpm in the...
