Just noticed that there is an earth type connector on the gas valve (just underneath the electrical connector). Should this be earthed to the case? I cannot see any cables that were in place previously.

Hi all, about 6 months ago our Potterton Suprima 50 Boiler failed to ignite and went into lockout status. I performed a few checks which pointed me to the gas valve itself. I left it over night and 'tapped' the gas valve - et voila it burst back into life. Last week the same thing happened...

So if its the PCB, why does it work perfectly for so long and then not? i.e why would usage and or heat affect a PCB? I find it hard to believe that I would be experiencing the same fault by swapping out the same board from a different supplier???

Thanks to some great advice on this forum I have changed the following parts : Suprima PCB (ebay job) OH Stat Thermistor Motorised 3-port Valve BUT.... I am still getting the 'lock-out' problem after the boiler has been in use for abour 30 mins or so. It is strange, it works perfectly...

I am replacing the thermistor and OH stat on a suprima 50. The existing thermistor is caked in white compound so wanted to pack the new one in with the same stuff. Thanks

Is this just the silver thermal paste you can buy from maplins for CPU's and Heatsinks? Cheers!

Thanks for all the replies. I am pleased to say that the problem is now fixed!! It looked like it was down to one of the micro-switches in the motorised valve that was causing the lock-out. I noted that the CH would not come on , on its own so swapped out the valve - et voila!! Changing the PCB...

Hi all, Great forum, I have done many searches on my suprima problem. So far, I have replaced the PCB but it hasnt cured the problem. Basically my system works well for about 40 mins from cold but then locks-out. After pressing reset it re-ignites for about 5-10 mins and then does the same...
