Removal of under cupboard lights - now what?!

Hiya Mattylad I don’t know? Would I be able to do that? The light run to a 30w Tradfri terminal and then to a regular figure 8 power cord.

Removal of under cupboard lights - now what?!

So I’ve taken down my old fluorescent under cupboard lights to replace them with Myrvarv flexible tube lighting from IKEA. So now I have spare wires connected to a light switch. I’m just wondering if I can utilise this cabling at all, or do I just have a redundant light switch?

    Mouldy Bathroom!

Looks like I may need to get an electrician in to fit a heater! There are a couple of Dow lights which have gone kaput anyway so it’ll be good to get those sorted. The blooming ceiling is completely sealed with the only access being through small holes, but I know there’s insulation up there...

    Mouldy Bathroom!

Thanks both JohnD I’m going to have a look at the type of fans you’ve suggested as it is a false ceiling. The gap under the door is large enough and not blocked, I wonder if the fan just isn’t strong enough for the be sufficient. The cowl also looks good and cheap! Jonbey the bathroom isn’t...

    Mouldy Bathroom!

Hi and thanks for the responses. I’m including a couple of photos to show more information. The fan vents out using a flexible duct going up and out, only a distance of 6-8 inches. You can see the broken slat on the picture. To answer your questions: I have had the ducting out and couldn’t...

    Mouldy Bathroom!

Hi guys As in the title, I have a mouldy bathroom. I’ve replaced the extractor fan a while ago with a Manrose VXF100LVS which has a rate of 85m³/h but it doesn’t seem to have made any difference from the last Manrose fan. The main reason I chose this one was ease of replacement. My picture...

Thanks Ken, I'm going to look at what you've suggested. I also have a damp specialist coming to have a look tomorrow so I'll see what he thinks.

    Crumbling paint only recently happening

Hello apps and thanks The lining paper feels soft but not tacky. Heaven knows how long it's been there - many years I imagine There isn't a cap on the chimney, and all I've done is stab some holes in the plasterboard. There haven't been any signs of rain falling directly down the chimney...

    Crumbling paint only recently happening

Good evening Ken and thanks so much for your response. I don't think there are any pipes under this part of the property, and the water main is at the back of the house about 5-6 feet away. My husband says there is a big pipe running under the front room, but I'm certain this would be gas...

    Crumbling paint only recently happening

Hi all As you'll see from the picture below, we have crumbling paint on an internal wall, which my brother noticed when he painted over our bright green washable paint in 2015 with some emulsion (we've lived with it since then ). Before then we hadn't noticed anything. So the...

Heating situation - can't get house temperature right

Hi Stem That could be the case. We have a combi boiler system. So potentially I could turn that radiator off - it does have a knob with an on arrow. I've just booked the annual boiler service for Friday so I can ask then about the setup. Thanks for your help!

Heating situation - can't get house temperature right

Thanks. Big-All I completely agree - is that going to be a professional job to move it? Doggitt - the roof is insulated but we have 2 skylights in the roof because it is a bedroom. I'm up here now and it's comfortable at about 20 degrees but it probably 22+ degrees downstairs. This is where I...

Heating situation - can't get house temperature right

Can anyone give any advice? I have a terraced house with a very cold upstairs, and a downstairs that retains the heat. The dump radiator (the one without a TRV?) is based in the front room and this is where the digital thermostat. The upstairs is usually about 2-4 degrees lower than the...

Need help with CH/DW timer please!

Hi everyone, I hope someone out there can help me. I'm trying to sort out my MIL's central heating and hot water, as my FIL has just passed away. She has a timer on her wall, which looks very much like the Landis & Gyr or Potterton Miniminder. As well as the clock and the horizontal...
