    Help engineer code needed

I wanted to do some alterations at my daughters house which involved moving a couple of PIR’s, her system was over 10 years old, I contacted the alarm company who said for security reasons (all the alarms on the estate had the same engineers code) they couldn’t tell me what it was. But they...

    Alarm battery?

Generally the panel battery isn’t supplied with the panel, the battery should be sized according to the number of powered detectors etc. typically would be anything in the range of 1.2 - 7.0 Ah.

Need to connect a column rad to white plastic pipework

As Terry says, make sure you you use a pipe insert, some valves have “pushfit” a connection, if using compression type then it’s recommended to use a copper olive and definitely no jointing compound on plastic pipes.

Washing machine drain hose siliconed into waste pipe. Why?

    Tezecom Veritas R8 Installation

Global tamper should be connected as attached drawing from Texecom manual, use either a connector block or gel connectors. It should be one continuous loop so that a break anywhere will trigger an open circuit tamper alarm.

Not sure what sounder you have but the Texecom Odyssey sounders have a “Hold Off” feature, I think the left LED only flashing indicates “Hold Off Active, Tamper Circuit Open”

    CCTV set up

As secureiam says, good quality cables and connections are important along with power supply (for cameras). I would suggest using cat5e or cat6 cable and quality RJ45 baluns, if using a DVR and Analogue cameras, this way you are future proofing the cables if you change to a NVR / IP cameras in...

    Veritas Excel false alarms

If you enter the engineer code (default 1234) then press “PROG” this will put in into “Programming” mode, you can then either re-program the panel or remove the panel or PIR covers without activating the tamper circuit. When finished you can put the cover back and press “RESET”
