Thin white board with shiny bits

thanks for the helpful replies. Does look like it’s there for fireproofing, so I’m thinking it may be supalux due to the shiny inclusions

Thin white board with shiny bits

Thanks both. It’s not completely smooth, and there are some chunks hanging off which look a little fibrous (hence me thinking it best to see if anyone recognised the product - I wondered if it may be AIB). The sparkly bits look like mica deposits maybe, which I think supalux may have?

Thin white board with shiny bits

Hi all Have come across this material I’m not familiar with (it’s around the edges of the opening and on the hatch). It’s thin white board with sparkley bits in it. Any one know what this might be? Thanks!

Movement beneath tiles causing cracking grout

Thanks very much for the helpful replies. It’s little difficult to photograph as it’s more of a hairline crack, but please see below.

Movement beneath tiles causing cracking grout

Hi all. We had some tiling done professionally about a year ago. This involved tiling over an area by the front door which was predominantly a concrete subfloor, however the first row of tiles had to slightly lap over the edge of the adjoining floorboards. I was concerned about the possibility...

Drilling into RSJ/I-Beam - risks (structural, asbestos, etc)

Thanks both, that’s very helpful. Would you be concerned about what the beam is clad in, or is it pretty unlikely something like AIB would have been used to clad a concealed domestic RSJ? Not sure how I’d get at it to test it!

Drilling into RSJ/I-Beam - risks (structural, asbestos, etc)

Hi all I have started drilling into the wall above our French doors downstairs to try and fit a curtain pole, and appear to have hit an I-Beam/RSJ. No idea when it was installed - the house is early 1900s, so any time after then. At this juncture, I’m wondering what the risks are of me...

Brown stuff around uPVC window - ID?

Hi all. I’m in the process of trying to improve the appearance of an older style uPVC window (assumed older given the harder edges, as opposed to modern style rounded edges). There is a lot of brown material around the edge of the frame which I have had to remove, but I’m unsure of what it is...

Removing concrete patch in suspended timber floor

Thanks for the helpful replies. I had wondered whether it may be an old hearth of some sort. I will see if I can take a look underneath by lifting some floorboards.

Removing concrete patch in suspended timber floor

This forum has been really helpful in the run-up to undertaking a partial renovation of a Victorian terraced house. I’m intending to sand and finish the pine floorboards in the dining room area, however there appears to be a patch of concrete or similar material in the corner of the room, as...
