By not kinking the hose, try doing the other end first.

Do the above as late as you can and once off press a screwdriver or some such rod against the pipe and on to your ear. Like this:

If you ask the neighbors to flush and you watch the trap this could be useful.
Either a puff of foul air as from back pressure as above if theres a partial block. Or the stack may not be properly vented so the flushing may suck the water out of the trap.
May take several flushes,allow a few...

Running waste into a gulley traps dirty water in the trap of the gulley which can then smell, esp in summer.
Imo get your nose in there and see where the smell is coming from, find cause of problem then find soution.
Have you asked your installer for advice. These are fgas units.
Most installers wouldn't fit that type of unit and would want something better in my experience.
Ive had several systems in office and home, always been Daikin. Always done well.
Ps I don't think you can get a split unit you can...
