Using cement fibre board as exterior cladding?

If it's every few years it needs a paint then that's great, i'd probably change it for something else in a few years anyway!

Using cement fibre board as exterior cladding?

Not as far as I know. But then I would be painting it with an exterior paint, so this should mostly weatherproof it

Using cement fibre board as exterior cladding?

Good to know - how has the paint held up for you/ have you had to repaint? Any pics of it would be great, I can't fully visualise what it would look like

Using cement fibre board as exterior cladding?

That's a good shout, I can cut the big sheets down to thirds and have long vertical strips. How often is regular for the painting? The roof has a slight overhang and there's a fence next to it, so shouldn't get battered with the weather. I may even put a bit of trellis on top of it and allow...

Using cement fibre board as exterior cladding?

I've built an outbuilding, and am in the process of cladding it now. It's concrete block all round (had to incorporate a retaining wall into it), which i've battened and clad with timber on half of it. On the other half, down the fence side, I can't bring myself to spend the massive cost on...

Best way to soundproof a timber floor?

The house is going to be split into flats, so want/ need to minimise sound as much as possible. Sound proofing to building regs is pretty minimal, so I want to go quite a bit beyond this as I will still be living in the property.

Best way to soundproof a timber floor?

I need to provide some good soundproofing on my newly installed loft floor. The old FF ceiling/ loft floor has been replaced by new joists, 200x50 at 400 centres. The SE has said I need to glue and screw ply to the joists so I won't be able to float the subfloor. The current plan is to put...

Wall plate into top course of brick?

Just posting incase anyone is curious: I got through to the tech team at Simpson, who informed me that you are not allowed to use the safety fast lite hangers on anything other than masonry. The other option I mentioned with the extra long hangers was the advisors preferred method - I expressed...

Wall plate into top course of brick?

Yeah I would be attaching to timber with the long ones - 6 on the 'front' face of a 4x3 (i.e. the 3 inch side), then wrapped over and 12 on top, and 8 on the back, there would be about 80mm excess which I could snip off. I'll give Simpson a ring tomorrow and see if they can confirm either, and...

Wall plate into top course of brick?

Thanks @^woody^ - I have emailed them already, but I might try giving them a call tomorrow, and if all good will see if they can follow up in writing, as I imagine my BCO will want to see it. If they come back and say no, is my option above viable, with the long leg hangers? Bit of a side note...

Wall plate into top course of brick?

I saw these but it says for masonry walls, and i'll have the timber sole plate on top (pink in my diagram). Can they be hooked on to timber too? If so, they're perfect

Wall plate into top course of brick?

I still can't find a joist hanger that would work with this setup so emailed Simpson, but no response yet. What I could do is use a 4x3 sole plate instead of a 4x2, which should allow for more face fixings on the hanger. Per hanger I could get 6 in on the front face, 12 on top, and 8 on the...

Wall plate into top course of brick?

Just looking at the levels now more of the roof is off, and it looks like the height of joist I need is around 55mm higher than the top of the brick. It may be far simpler to just bed a sole plate on top of this, build the dormer wall off of it and hang the joists from it too. I'm not too sure...
